Wild Card Games celebrates sixth year of record sales

Wild Card Games is celebrating its sixth consecutive year of record sales, having sold 400,000 games across the UK in large and independent retailers.

Off the back of another year of double digit growth, the firm is expecting the run of success to continue into 2018 with retailers coming on board to pick up Wild Card Games’ most popular titles, including Who Knows Where?, Maponimoes, Backpacker and Frenzi.

Such has been the success for the firm that MD, Sean Byrne has outlined a number of new initiatives for the year ahead to help fuel continued growth as well as international expansion.

“We are continually taking on new retailers and increasing our range with our existing retail customers,” Byrne told ToyNews.

“We are also planning to visit more shows overseas as we are now looking for partners to help us repeat our UK success in North America and Europe.”

Among the titles that Wild Card Games is looking to take to the international audience is the new launch Globe Runner, a family board game that races through every country in the world.

The guessing game features multiple choice questions on every country, capital, flags and more. The first player to travel around the world is the winner. It joins other recent launches and popular titles like 6 Suits, Ah-Harr and Arithmanix which tap into the global audience through their non-language dependent game play.

Meanwhile, Who Knows Where?, Globe Runner, Ski Run, Maponimoes and Backpacker have gained international recognition through titles such as The New York Times, The South China Morning Post, The Irish Independent and The Australian.

“International demand is already building and we already sell a lot of games abroad directly from our website,” continued Byrne.

“We are focussing this year on finding international distributors to build on these foundations and repeat our UK success in North America and Europe.”
